Our Baby Crib Review: The Nestig Mini Cribs

Hello and welcome to the Killebrew Krewe Blog! If this is your first time checking us out, we are so excited to have you here. We will post blogs about the struggles and victories of raising our boys, products that have helped up, and strategies to keep our sanity and marriage alive and thriving. Do us a huge favor and leave us a comment or share our videos/blogs so that we can continue to grow our community. Being a parent is hard, and we want to grow together with you, as we all figure out this thing called raising kids.

Today we are going to talk about the cribs we used for the boys. The Nestig Cribs were something that popped up on our radar because we were convinced that we wanted a crib system that could grow with the boys. We were hoping that the system would be able to last the boys for a couple of years, and the Nestig is designed to go from Mini-crib to Full-crib and then into a toddler bed.

For us, with twins that were born premature, the mini crib was perfect! It allowed us to move the cribs around the house, in the living room, our bedroom, or the nursery as we needed to keep them close and be able to feed them as needed.

Nestig Cribs in the living room

Building the mini cribs was super easy as the design of the Nestig system is very well thought out. The wood is soft and smooth; the hardware is thoughtfully designed to fit and be utilized in all of the conversions. The wheels on it are really high quality, like rollerblade wheels with high-quality bearings. When it comes to design, the Nestig Cribs offer a simple, modern look that is organically shaped into the centerpiece of whatever room we put these in.

Once the boys grew to be big enough that they were sleeping more through the night, we wanted to keep them in their rooms at night. It was time for the full crib to come out. Here is a video of us transforming it to the full crib system.

The nestig crib comes with a mattress for the mini crib but not for the full crib. This is where we got the Newton Mattress. It’s a breathable mattress that will allow the boys to continue to breathe through it if they ever roll over on their stomachs. We love the idea of a mattress that, if they are lying face down on, they are still protected. It’s super soft, and the boys love them.

Overall, we can’t recommend the Nestig cribs and Newton Mattress enough. If you are looking for a quality crib that has a sustainable build, thoughtful design, and can grow with your child, you’d be hard-pressed to find a system better than the Nestig.
